We believe our employees are our most valuable asset. We welcome people from all walks of life and recognise the different strengths that this diversity brings to our business.
“We have different recruitment practices to other businesses as well. So, your normal recruitment practice, yes that works for some people, but not all people and we understand that.”
Jane, HR
30% of our workforce has a disability. It’s not what you can’t do, it’s what you can do that counts to us.
we work with local schools and colleges, offering young people valuable work experience.
we’ve been recognised for the way we recruit and look after our employees.
Every year, Evtec Automotive welcomes approximately 50 students from Hereward College and Corley Centre for work experience. We offer unique work programmes, including nine-month placements and the opportunity pursue a food safety and hygiene qualification taught by Evtec Automotive’s catering manager, Hannah Kitchen.
“Corley Centre is thrilled to be working with Evtec Automotive. As part of our substantive employability qualification our students undertake a work placement each week. Evtec generously provides our students with a real-life work experience. They are challenged and supported. The progress they make with the support of Evtec is amazing, learning to work as a team and be part of the Evtec community.
We cannot thank them enough for giving our students this opportunity and we know that as part of the experience they receive they are always treated with courtesy and respect. They become part of the team!”
Mark White, Headteacher, Corley Centre
“We have a long and successful partnership with Evtec. They have provided an exemplary working environment for our students and their whole staff team have demonstrated the highest level of commitment and professionalism.”
Paul Cook, Principal & Chief Executive,
Hereward College
Our canteen is the social hub of the business and essential to our employees’ health and wellbeing. As well as providing an opportunity to relax, for many of our staff it may be their only hot meal of the day.
Our catering team is led by Hannah Kitchen, who as well as providing freshly made hot and cold food each day, helps our work experience students achieve a qualification in food safety and hygiene.
We like to do things differently when it comes to recruitment. We recognise that a typical interview process might not suit everyone, so we also offer positions through on-the-job training and work experience.
Our aim is to help people find an area of the business which suits them and which suits us in turn. We work with local job centres, schools, colleges and disability charities to attract candidates. Finding out what people can do is much more important to us than what they can’t do.
30% of our workforce is disabled. We adapt to the needs of our employees and ensure everyone feels valued. Our approach is based on respect and embracing each other’s differences – values which are integral to Evtec’s culture.
Our record of employing disabled people and ensuring they are treated fairly is recognised through our Disability Confident Leader Status.
“All the people who come into work with disabilities have an enthusiasm and a motivation to overcome their difficulties. They make light of their difficulties and brush them away. It’s an uplifting thing and puts into perspective all the things that are going on in the world.”
